What your notice asks you to do

| Visit an office | Arrange the visit and bring the application, credential, and documents the notice requests. |
| Take a knowledge / written test | Study the official Indiana manual and check the agency’s exam instructions. |
| Complete vision screening | Follow the eye-test or accepted examination-report instructions. Vision screening alone does not call for written-test practice. |
| Take a road / driving test | Check permit, education, vehicle, and appointment requirements. Confirm whether an existing knowledge-test result satisfies the prerequisite. |
| Complete a course or eLearning | Confirm the specific agency-approved option and your eligibility. Course alternatives from other states do not automatically apply. |
| Provide documents | Use the document list for your credential and follow the deadline on the notice. |
| Medical / driver-safety review | Follow the individualized reporting and examination instructions directly with the agency. |

180 days or more expired: From 180 days through 5 years: written knowledge and vision tests. More than 5 years: driving-skills test also required.
180 days is counted as days, not six calendar months. Vision screening may be satisfied with the BMV’s qualifying vision report. A driving test is added after more than five years.
